Another Night Shoot

Didcot Chimneys

For Some time i have been driving around the area looking at the un-missable didcot power station chimneys and thinking to myself, somehow they will make a great photo.

Well i'm not sure about  great photo, but i think tonight i took a fairly decent photo, this was taken just outside the power station over the railway bridge.

The Speed of Memory

Looking SD cards for my DSLR camera, i thought i would try an upgrade.

The best place to buy these cards has to eBay by far, if you look at the high street retailers such as Jessops, they charge a high premium, but on eBay you can get the for a quarter of the price.

I use an SDHC card class 10 rated at 30 mbps transfer speed, this was good enough until i saw the SDHX extreme pro that was also a class 10 but with a transfer speed of 95mbps.

I'll try this out this weekend hopefully, and should see some improved camera performance when shooting in burst mode.

An A2 Deal

Today I got one of those deal cloud offers for an A2 sized print for £8, Normally worth £44.

So I thought I would give it a try and see what the quality looks like on both the canvas A2 print and the photo I have taken with my new DSLR camera.

The photo I submitted was an Under exposed Macro shot of a flower in the back barged (See above).

The Family seemed to think this was the best option (and a bit of a gamble) to try the deal for £8.

I'll let you know what it looks like when it arrives.

Night Photo

One of the shots that I have been thinking about for a while is a motion blur shot of a road, here is a shot I took over the A34 just outside of Abingdon.

The shot is with a slow shutter speed, however there seems to be some glare on the lens, that I couldn't see when composing the shot, but seems to be visible in the final shot,

I think I will have to try this again!

Monster Trucks!

Recently we paid a visit to the Gadget show live exhibition as we are all a bit Gadget Mad in our house.

As we managed to book our tickets early we managed to secure a good seat in the super theatre show where the presenter of the Gadget show perform a live show.

One of the challenges that was being performed was the newest presenter Pollyanna Woodward singing Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance.

As well as the Super theatre show we stooped by a stand with RC trucks on special offer and bought a couple of Traxxas Monster Jam Monster Truck replicas, these were the Grave Digger and the Monster Mutt, you can see below how well these trucks go.

The Kitten Has Arrived!

After deciding on the kitten that we saw at the rescue centre, we had to go through some formalities to ensure that we were the right kind of people to provide a new home to this Kitten.

We had to provide some character references from friends and employers and then send them back, in the meantime the Kitten was to undergo a check-IMG_0579 up from the vet to make sure she was fit enough to leave the centre.

After a phone call from the centre confirming all was in order, we arranged to collect the Kitten, she didn't seem phased by the journey home and seemed quite relaxed when she reached her new home.

We let her out of the travel box and she soon started to wander, we kept her in just two rooms to start with while she found her bearings.

It wasn't long before she started to play just like a proper kitten!

A Dog! we meant a Cat!

Did i say in an earlier post that we were getting a dog?

Well it seems that we have had a change of mind.

Like most families we have always had some sort of pet in the house, the most recent one being a guinea pig called Henry.
Unfortunately Henry had a growth and had to be put down.

This of course gave us a reason to re-evaluate our pet position and how much work and effort we felt we could cope with, after remymany hours of thinking we all agreed that the best option was a cat.

So off we went surfing the web for a rescue cat, the first and most obvious place was the local Blue Cross rescue home that just happens to have the perfect companion, a young 4 month old Kitten called Remy.

Remy has not had a good start in life, with the fact that she was abandoned almost immediately and put into a rescue home, then suffered an umbilical hernia which needed an operation, an of course then neutered early.
as a result Remy has a nasty abdominal scar as well as a mental scar!

Anyway we hope to bring Remy home next weekend and start allowing her to live life as a loved kitten in a good family environment.
