Learning Properly now!!

Now that we have almost got the hang of this it's time to have some proper lessons.

We noticed that during the public sessions there were a few coaches on the Ice, these very nice people would offer lessons ate a reasonable rate. So we decided we would take it up and have a lesson every Sunday for our daughter and every other Sunday for myself and my wife.

After our first lesson, the news came back that our daughter is a natural in the Ice...... The same comment was not given about me or my wife?

Moving Home

Well now that all seems to have been agreed we are just waiting for the legal bodies to sort them selves out.

We know our buyers are keen to exchange contracts and complete, as they did push for a date before Christmas in December 2005, although since then we have heard numerous stories via solicitors and estate agents that they still haven't got the money together to be in a position to exchange.

The house that we are buying is currently owned by a genuinely nice couple, they are more than happy to do whatever they can to make the process a smooth one, they have already moved out of the property, and are settled in their new home, so things should go pretty smoothly for our end.

Getting Serious About Skating

Well despite the falling over, the blisters, and the occasional knock, we are all unanimous in the fact that we like ice skating.
We are also agreed on the fact that the skates that are available for hire are pretty naff.

So of to browse eBay to see how much a pair of Ice skates will cost!.

Well it's out daughters I'll stick with eBay until I'm sure she is really serious.

Meanwhile I'll start bidding for some children's skates and some for myself and my wife too.

Now my Wife has decided that we will also go Ice skating on a Friday evening, so off i go after work and meet the rest of the family up at the ice rink.

Moving Home

Well, after trying to sell our old cottage for nearly 3 years (on and off) we have finally sold it, the next real issue is to find a house in a suitable location, at an affordable price they we all like.

Our Old Cottage

Here is our Old Cottage

We initially found a house in Radley that we liked, however this was the second time we had seen this house, we had previously viewed it a year or so ago when we were looking at property, but my wife had a bad feeling about it and we decided not to go for it, this time however it turned out that my wife's 'bad feeling' was correct, the current vendors have spent over £45k putting the quick makeovers right after the previous occupants.

Although this house in Radley is looking good, and it certainly has the wow factor, as we proceed to purchase, it becomes clear that the 'makeovers' are still not 100% right, we are now at the stage where we are not sure again, and the vendors decide that as our solicitors are insisting on so much paperwork and proof or works etc, that they are going to pull out, never mind, we didn't really need the £1k that we spent on the survey and reports that go along with it.Our New House

Our New House

Well we finally decided to go for our second choice of home, this is best described as an honest house, I mean this in the sense that the current owners have not done much to the property in the way of renovation or decoration in any way in the 15+ years that they have lived in it, therefore we can see exactly what we are buying, the house is plenty big enough for us, and has the potential to have that wow factor in the future, should we decide to do it.

More Skating

Yes Really!!!

Well the blisters from last week have almost healed up, this will be the true test of our daughters enthusiasm, will she or won't she?

Yep, she did, blisters or not, she wanted to go and put skates on again and get on the Ice.

This looks like it could be getting serious.....

I must say that my wife and I are also enjoying our new hobby, our previous hobby was horses, they needed a lot of work and care, and sometime they just didn't want to play!.
With Ice skating however, it's just a case of getting your skates on and having fun.

While ate the Ice rink we noticed a few couples dancing, I said to my wife "I would like to do some simple dancing on ice with you", funnily enough, the same though had entered her head.

Ice Skating - First Attempt

Well, This morning was the first attempt at Ice Skating, off we went to the local Ice Rink, paid our money and proceeded downstairs to the skate hire and changing area.

The first real thing I noticed was the cold, yep it's cold at Ice rinks, even though they are indoors.

The next thing was to get some hire skates that fit, we all managed to get a pair, although they did look a bit worn, in hindsight I wish that I had worn more socks.

After getting onto the ice and holding onto the barrier for dear life, I started to drag myself around, after a coupleOxford Ice Rink of circuits, I noticed that my 7 year old daughter was having a great time and was happily skating around, although a little bit shakey, she was doing far better than me.

My wife had also managed to let go of the barrier and skate a little freestyle circle, even though she had no real control, she did look pretty good on the ice.

After a 2 hour session I still had not progressed, although I must admit I did have some fun, by now my feet were covered in blisters and I had lost about 3 stone in weight (well maybe not) with the effort in just staying upright, although I did manage to slip over a couple of times.

Did we all enjoy it enough to come again??

You Bet!

My First Blog

Welcome to my blog, this is the beginning of my blogging website, to start with I'm not sure what the content will be or where it will come from, but for the moment I feel the need to blog, so here it goes, feel free to browse my different subject pages, hopefully if you might find that this small peek into my life is both interesting (or not) and certainly full of humour.
