Jousting @ Blenheim Palace

While we were at the Blenheim International Horse Trials last weekend, we took note of the today's event, Jousting.

We managed to make use of a 2 for 1 offer from the programme we bought last week, so we got entry with 2 adults for the price of one, this allowed us to get a ticket for the Palace and the tournament.

We had a quick tour of the house and the Winston Churchill exhibition, after this we made our way to the south lawns to see the falconry displays and the Jousting tournament.

The falconry displays were nothing special, in fact they were pretty poor compared with others we have seen, however, they were just a time filler for the main event.

100_2846 At 12:30 the procession started and the tournament began, it was very exciting and the crowd took it all in, as well as the actual jousting there was also lots of sword fighting and medieval punishments, of course the crowd were encouraged to participate in the teams with lots of cheers for the their own teams and booing for the opponents.

Overall a great day, although the catering left a bit to be desired, not the usual standards for Blenheim Palace.
